“This cornbread recipe was given to me by a lady at church. It was her mother’s recipe from 1910.” – Linda

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar (if using), baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs lightly, then stir in the milk and melted butter. Mix until smooth.

4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined—be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cornbread dense.

5. Pour Into Baking Dish

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish or skillet, spreading it out evenly.

6. Bake Until Golden

Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
