  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup whole milk, warm (about 110°F / 43°C)

  • 1/4 cup water, warm

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

For the vanilla cream filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

For the glaze (optional):

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 tbsp milk

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough:

    • In a large bowl, combine warm milk, water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

    • Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix well. Gradually add remaining flour until dough is soft but not sticky.

    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled.

  2. Prepare the vanilla cream filling:

    • Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate until ready to use.

  3. Assemble the rolls:

    • Punch down the dough and roll it into a 15×10-inch rectangle.

    • Spread the vanilla cream filling evenly over the dough (reserve a little for serving if you want).

    • Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log. Slice into 12 equal rolls.

    • Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch pan, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.

  4. Bake:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Glaze (optional):

    • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.
