German Apple Pie

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 6 cups sliced and peeled tart apples (such as Granny Smith)

  • 1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 ⅓ cups heavy cream

For Assembly:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust, edges crimped

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
