Christmas Baklava Recipe for The Perfect Holiday

Christmas is celebrated all over the globe, and there’s no better time to create unforgettable holiday gatherings with friends and family. One dessert that captures the essence of the season is Baklava—a timeless treat known for its rich flavors and festive charm. While I’ve baked countless pies and cakes, Baklava has truly become the standout at my Christmas parties.

This irresistible dessert wins hearts with every bite. Pair it with coffee or tea during weekend get-togethers, and feel free to personalize it with dried fruits, frostings, or a mix of your favorite chopped nuts. Here’s my go-to recipe for soft, flaky, and perfectly layered Baklava.

🧂 Ingredients
Ingredient Quantity
Phyllo dough 1 pack (1 pound)
Ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons
Chopped walnuts 2 cups
Chopped pecans 2 cups
Honey 2 cups
Melted butter 1 ½ cups
Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon
Grated lemon zest 1 teaspoon
👩‍🍳 Instructions
Make the Nut Filling
In a bowl, combine chopped walnuts, pecans, and ground cinnamon. Set aside for layering.
Prep the Pan
Lightly grease your baking dish with some melted butter.
Layer the Phyllo Sheets
Place two sheets of phyllo dough at the base of the dish and brush with butter. Continue layering two sheets at a time, sprinkling 2 tablespoons of the nut mixture between each set. Brush every layer with butter to ensure even crispiness.
Top It Off
Once you’ve used up the nut mixture, place a few more phyllo sheets on top and finish with a generous brushing of butter.
Slice Before Baking
Use a sharp knife to cut the Baklava into diamond-shaped pieces before it goes into the oven.
Bake to Golden Perfection
Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and bake for 45–47 minutes, or until the top turns golden and beautifully crisp.
Make the Honey Syrup
While the Baklava bakes, gently warm the honey in a saucepan along with the vanilla essence and lemon zest until fully blended.
Add the Syrup
As soon as the Baklava is out of the oven, pour the warm syrup evenly over the entire dish. Let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to soak up all the goodness.
Serve & Enjoy
Sprinkle with extra chopped nuts if desired. Serve warm or chilled—either way, it’s guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.
