A homemade dessert in 5 minutes that I never get tired of

Instructions:

  1. Heat the milk with lemon zest and vanilla sugar over low heat.
  2. Whisk egg yolks + sugar in a bowl until light.
  3. Dissolve cornstarch in a tablespoon of cold milk.
  4. Temper the eggs by slowly adding warm milk while whisking.
  5. Return mixture to saucepan and cook on low heat, stirring constantly until thickened.
  6. Stir in lemon juice and condensed milk, then remove from heat.
  7. Pour into serving dishes, strain if desired, and cool slightly.
  8. Top with cinnamon or chocolate and serve warm or chilled.

Variations:

  • Use orange or lime instead of lemon
  • Add honeymaple syrup, or spices
  • Layer with cookies or fruit for a parfait
  • Make it dairy-free with almond milk and coconut cream
  • Add cocoa for a chocolate twist
