Ah-ma-zing! My kids said it’s one of the best dinners I’ve ever made

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard loaf pan or a baking sheet with non-stick spray or olive oil.

  2. Shape the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch the pizza dough into a roughly 10×14 inch rectangle.

  3. Layer the Fillings: Leaving a ½-inch border around the edges, spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella and ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese. Arrange the pepperoni slices in an even layer, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes (if using). Add any other optional toppings at this stage.

  4. Roll into a Log: Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll the dough into a log, pinching the seam and ends to seal completely.

  5. Add Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, stir the melted butter and garlic powder together. Place the rolled dough seam-side down in your prepared pan or on the baking sheet. Brush the entire top and sides generously with the garlic butter mixture.

  6. Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown and the dough is fully cooked through.

  7. Add More Cheese (Optional): For an extra cheesy top, remove the loaf from the oven about 5 minutes before it’s done. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of mozzarella and ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese over the top. Return to the oven to finish baking and melt the cheese.

  8. Crisp the Top (Optional): For a more browned and crispy top, switch the oven to broil for the final 1-2 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning.

  9. Serve: Transfer the pizza bread to a wire rack and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps the cheese set and makes for cleaner slices. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
