Ingredients
2 large apples, peeled and diced
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon melted butter
Oil for frying
For the Glaze (optional but delicious)
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Apples
Peel and dice the apples into small cubes. Toss them with a pinch of cinnamon or a squeeze of lemon juice if you want extra flavor or want to keep them from browning.
2. Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
3. Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or pot, heat oil to about 350°F (175°C). The oil should be deep enough to allow the fritters to float.
4. Fry the Fritters
Scoop the batter using a spoon or small ice cream scoop. Carefully drop spoonfuls into the hot oil.
Fry 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan for even cooking.
5. Drain and Glaze
