Apple Pie Cinnamon Rolls

For the Cinnamon Sugar Layer

  • ⅓ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp butter, softened

For the Glaze (optional but highly recommended)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🔧 Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add the sugar, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.

  4. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

2. Make the Apple Pie Filling

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and lemon juice.

  3. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are softened.

  4. Stir in the cornstarch and cook for 1–2 more minutes until thickened.

  5. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

3. Assemble the Rolls

  1. Roll the dough out into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches).

  2. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.

  3. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly on top.

  4. Spoon the cooled apple pie filling evenly across the surface.

  5. Roll the dough up tightly from the long edge into a log.

  6. Slice into 12 equal rolls.

4. Second Rise
