👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prep the Oven & Dish
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease baking dish with 2 tbsp butter.
2. Slice the Potatoes
- Use a mandolin or sharp knife to slice potatoes very thin.
3. Make the Cream Mixture
- In a bowl, mix cream, cheddar, 4 tbsp Parmesan, and garlic.
- Add sliced potatoes and toss to coat.
- Season generously with salt and pepper.
4. Layer & Pour
- Arrange potatoes upright in the dish.
- Pour remaining cream mixture evenly over top.
- Dot with remaining 2 tbsp butter.
- Season lightly again.
5. Bake to Tender
- Cover with foil and bake 35–40 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle remaining Parmesan.
- Bake uncovered 25–30 minutes until golden and tender.
6. Broil & Rest
- Broil on high for 1 minute to brown the top.
- Let cool 10 minutes before serving.

- Make it Moroccan: Add a pinch of cumin or ras el hanout to the cream.
- Cheese swap: Try Gruyère, fontina, or a sharp aged gouda.
- Add-ins: Layer in caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms.
