Once the base is assembled, cover the ground inside the frame with landscape fabric. This will help prevent weeds from growing up into your planter and will also improve drainage.

With the base in place, begin constructing the next layer of the pyramid. Use the next longest set of planks to create a smaller square or rectangle that sits on top of the base. Secure this layer with screws or nails, ensuring it is centered and level.

Continue adding layers in this manner, each smaller than the one below it, until you reach the top of the pyramid. Each layer should be filled with soil as you build, ensuring the soil is packed firmly but not too tightly, to allow for good root growth.

Once the pyramid is constructed and filled with soil, it’s time to plant your strawberries. Start with the bottom layer, spacing the plants about 12 inches apart. Gently remove each plant from its container, loosen the roots, and place it in a hole in the soil. Cover the roots with soil and press down gently to secure the plant.

Continue planting in each layer, working your way up the pyramid. Water the plants thoroughly after planting to help them settle into their new environment.

Strawberries need consistent moisture, especially during flowering and fruiting. Water your pyramid planter regularly, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Drip irrigation systems can be particularly effective for vertical planters, as they provide even watering without waste.
