How to Make It
1️⃣ Make the Nougat
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook to 250°F on a candy thermometer (hard ball stage).
- Meanwhile, beat egg white + salt to stiff peaks.
- Slowly stream hot sugar syrup into egg white while beating at high speed.
- Beat until mixture is glossy and thick. Add vanilla.
2️⃣ Set & Shape
- Line a pan with parchment paper (leave an overhang).
- Spread nougat evenly. Let set 2 hours or overnight.
- Lift from pan and cut into bars or bites.
3️⃣ Coat in Chocolate
- Melt chocolate and shortening until smooth.
- Dip each nougat piece to fully coat.
- Set on parchment and let harden.
4️⃣ Enjoy!
- Serve at room temp or chill slightly for a firmer bite.
🍬 Tips & Variations
- Add cocoa powder to nougat for a chocolate-fluff version
- Drizzle with white chocolate for contrast
- Mix in crushed nuts or coconut before coating
