Time flies, and sometimes the things we used to take for granted as kids or teens now feel like relics from another era. Nostalgia has a way of reminding us just how much things have changed—and if you remember these, congratulations, you’re officially “old” (in the best way possible).

1. Cassette Tapes and Walkmans

Before streaming music or playlists, we had cassettes and Walkmans. Recording your favorite songs from the radio onto a tape was an art form, and untangling a tape with a pencil was a rite of passage.

2. Dial-Up Internet and AOL

Remember the screeching sound of dial-up internet? Waiting minutes for a single webpage to load taught us patience like nothing else. And of course, saying “You’ve got mail!” from AOL was the pinnacle of digital excitement.
