Today I’m offering you a simple and inexpensive tip for cleaning and shining your metal items at home. This recipe uses ingredients you probably already have at home, like toothpaste, dish soap, salt, and lemon. Follow the steps to find out how to make this effective homemade cleaner!Ingredients required:
1 generous tablespoon of toothpaste (even expired or of poor quality)
200 ml of lukewarm water
200 ml detergent (avoid multi-purpose detergents)
2 tablespoons of table salt
Juice of one lemon (preferably a Taiti lemon, but any lemon will do)
Preparation steps:
Dilute the toothpaste : Put a tablespoon of toothpaste in a container. While stirring, gradually add 200 ml of lukewarm water to dissolve the toothpaste. This will act as a super activator for the recipe.
Add detergent : Measure 200ml of detergent using a measuring cup and add it to the mixture. For best results, preferably use a clear detergent.
Add salt : Add 2 tablespoons of table salt. Mix well until the toothpaste is completely dissolved. The salt increases the effectiveness of the cleaner.
Squeeze the lemon : Add the juice of a medium-sized lemon. Lemon has degreasing properties and gives metal surfaces an exceptional shine.
Mix the solution : Stir well until you get a foamy and homogeneous consistency. Your cleaner is ready to use!
Application :
On metal surfaces : use a scouring pad (e.g. Bombril) and apply the solution to the object to be cleaned (aluminum, stainless steel pans, etc.). You do not need to rub hard: the secret is to apply the solution several times to achieve the optimal shine.
Result : Dirt and grease disappear quickly, making way for sparkling metal. For stubborn stains (e.g. adhesive residue), you can use a special remover.
Conservation:
You can store the rest of the solution in a vial or plastic bottle. There is no need to put it in the fridge! Why is this tip great?
Economical : Use products you already have at home.
Versatile : Works on aluminum, stainless steel and other metals.
Effective : Cleans, degreases and shines without much effort.
