Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy
- Place the chicken: Put your chicken tenders or breasts into the slow cooker.
- Make the gravy mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy packets, chicken broth (or water), granulated garlic, and the optional Kitchen Bouquet until smooth.
- Combine and cook: Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the chicken in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Shred and serve: Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker. Stir the shredded chicken into the gravy and serve.
Recipe Tips
- Make it hearty: To turn this into a one-pot meal, add frozen peas and carrots to the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes of cooking. This saves you from having to make a separate side dish.
- Enhance the color and flavor: Although Kitchen Bouquet is optional, it gives your gravy a richer, darker color and a deeper flavor. It also helps to slightly thicken the gravy.
- Choose your chicken: Using boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thighs, or tenders makes the chicken incredibly easy to shred once it’s cooked, which is perfect for serving over pasta or rice.
