That’s why you should always leave an upturned glass and a piece of paper in the sink before you go on holiday

Steps Before Leaving: The Ritual of the Perfect Vacationer
Here’s the complete method to leave behind a clean, healthy, and airtight sink:

Clean the sink thoroughly, especially the drain edges and the walls.

Pour 2 to 3 liters of hot or boiling white vinegar down the drain. This will disinfect the pipes and loosen any residue.

Leave it on for a few hours or even overnight, then temporarily plug the sink with a plug or cloth.

Rinse with hot water the next day.

Rub the drain with half a lemon to neutralize odors and add a natural fragrance.

Dry the sink thoroughly.

Place a sheet of absorbent paper over the hole.

Place a glass cup (or a thick plastic cup) over it, completely covering the sink inlet.

And there you have it! In just a few minutes, you’ll have protected your kitchen from the unpleasantness of your absence.
