This looked so good out of the oven, everyone immediately dug in!
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2. Grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter and set aside.
3. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the chopped potatoes and cook until just tender, about 10 minutes. In the last 4 minutes of cooking, add the green beans to the pot. Drain well and set aside.
4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked potatoes and green beans, ham, half of the shredded cheese, milk, sour cream, diced onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed.
5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared casserole dish and smooth the top with a spoon.
6. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese evenly over the top of the casserole mixture.
7. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter until the breadcrumbs are well coated. Spread this breadcrumb mixture over the cheese layer in the casserole.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly around the edges.
9. Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving to let it set and make it easier to serve.
Enjoy this comforting casserole as a stand-alone meal or paired with a simple side salad for a complete and satisfying dinner.
