Cheeseburger Lava Cake Molten Melt
🔧 Instructions
1. Make the Cheese Filling
-
In a bowl, mix the cheddar, mozzarella, and cream cheese until smooth.
-
Roll into small balls (about 2 tbsp each) and freeze for at least 15 minutes.
Freezing is key to achieving that molten center!
2. Season the Beef
-
In a large bowl, combine ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Gently mix with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.
3. Assemble the Lava Cakes
-
Divide beef into 6 equal portions. Flatten one portion into a thick disk.
-
Place a frozen cheese ball in the center. Top with another flattened portion of beef and seal the edges tightly.
-
Make sure the cheese is fully enclosed with no gaps.
4. Sear and Bake
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Heat butter in an oven-safe skillet (cast iron preferred) over medium-high heat.
-
Sear each burger for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
-
Transfer skillet to oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until burgers are fully cooked and cheese is melted.
5. Rest and Serve
-
Let burgers rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
-
Optionally, brush with BBQ sauce or ketchup for a glossy finish.
-
Slice, watch the cheese ooze, and enjoy every molten bite.
