Step 4: Make the Fudge Layer

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips, heavy cream, butter, and salt.
  2. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 5: Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one cooled cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand.
  2. Spread half of the fudge mixture evenly over the top of the first layer.
  3. Top with the second cake layer and spread the remaining fudge mixture over the top and sides of the cake.

Step 6: Prepare the Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust milk as needed for desired consistency.
